Within the framework of this long-term project, I am interested in different Turkish families, from different cities, from different political, ideological and religious currents, and from different social classes. The aim was to offer a more intimate view, through the family prism, of the current Turkish society, which is undergoing various changes and is strongly impacted by the political and economic situation of the country.
Turkey is an unstable country, and its society is increasingly polarized. Presidential elections will be held in 2023, and they will be crucial and decisive for the future of Turkey. Will Recep Tayyip Erdogan be elected again? How will the Turkish population mobilize in the run-up to these elections? What will be the impact of these changes on the lives of Turks?
The concept of family being primordial in Turkey, I wish to highlight this place of sharing, exchange of values and traditions. I wish to show how adherence to certain political parties influences the daily life of various families.
I started by following a pro-MHP family, a nationalist far-right party, in Kayseri, a city in central Anatolia. The MHP is the third largest political force in Parliament, forming a coalition with President Erdogan's AKP party. Their leader is Devlet Bahçeli.
